Program Overview:
All Adults with urostomies need specialized pre and postoperative Education and care. While patients with a urostomy may be a small % of overall ostomies globally, their care is specialized. Understanding the challenges patients may experience in self-care of urostomy, can provide a framework for patient education and support. The session will focus on the challenges of pouching a urostomy and maintaining healthy peristomal skin. Developing a process for maximizing patient outcomes for successful self-care of urostomy and maintaining quality of life benefits this patient population.
